Not so "Mini" Mini

Okay, my last blog was so long, I won't bore you with a bunch of words....I found this project on....http://www.dwellingsbydevore.com/2010/03/play-kitchen-part-2.html   It is made from a sewing machine cabinet I found at Goodwill (It even came with a cool blue sewing machine that works!)  It was easy and fun to make!

Sewing cabinet in my messy garage!

                                                   What a cute little sander!

priming, sanding, priming, sanding, priming, sanding......

The back is the top of the cabinet and a new piece of board was set on top with a bowl put in it for the sink.

Oh, what cute help I have!

Taaa daaa.. the finished kitchen, the door opens to a cooking rack and has a little light!

                                                   A shelf for cooking utensils.
This makes me want to redo my real life kitchen!!!!
                                                         Mini Blessings!  Kim

The Longest Blog Ever!

There has been no mini making going on here for quite a while!  My real life has been focused on real life issues...like finishing up schooling my kids for the year, getting my house in order (because I don't have time when school is in), moving my son to his first apartment, choosing curriculum for next years school, and lastly, working on an adoption of a child from China...whew, when I write it all down I see why I have had no time!
In James the Bible talks about "pure" religion-27" Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. “ I don't want to be a religious person, I want to be a person after God's own heart....we decided last November that God was calling us to walk out his love for us by adopting a child who has no home.  Boy, has it been a wild ride!   Let's see, here are a few of the things that have happened and what we have learned through the process...
*What happened-we went to get our marriage certificate, and guess what?  It had never been sent in, we were not legally married for 25 years!  (who else does this happen to?)
*What we learned- a piece of paper has nothing to do with being married!
*What happened-we signed on with an agency who did our home study (big, long deal) and found out after the papers went to immigration that they were not qualified to write one for China  (again, who else would this happen to?)
*What we learned- that it was a blessing this was found out in the United States and NOT after we got to China!
*What happened-the agency who wrote us the useless home study, won't give us our money back
*What we learned-yes, we would like our money back, but this little girl is worth millions!
*What happened-people in this business are really not interested in kids.
*What we learned-God is really interested in kids!
*What happened-our adoption has been dramatically slowed down by all of the above
*What we learned-what we see as delays are not delays...they are God's timing!
*What we know-God is good, God is faithful, God knows, God had it planned since before one of our days came to be.
So this is what I have been doing.  We continue to ask God to write this story of our lives...and we know it will be an awesome story, a page turning, can't wait to see how it all ends kind of story....but most of all it will be a love story, the story of God and his plans for our little family in little Iowa and the story of a little girl all the way across the ocean.....can’t wait to see how this story goes!
(and by the way, if you have read this whole thing, thanks!  I have not made minis but we have made a “big mini” for the playhouse…I will post that next!)     Mini Blessings, I hope you look around today and see God’s signature on the story He is writing, the story of your life!  Kim
